The copyright law protects you from people stealing you stuff and claiming it as there's. © is the normal symbol for copyright and then had the owners name or the organization name.

There is normally a year with it as well to show when it was made.

eg:

"This picture below is © 8th High Wycombe Scout Group (2007)"

If you see this sign it means that the content is the owners and only the owners.

Why?

We have the copyright law to protect the information and data that other people make. Copyright laws are very important so that we can information is not copied and then flogged of as someone eases (the copiers own).

The copyright law was setup to help protect people who make documents for print or the web from theft, if someone spends ages making a website or document they do not want someone else to come along and use it and say it is there own.
